Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Annapolis is the name of a city which is the state capital of Maryland. It is situated on the southern bank of the Severn River. It is also one of the entries on Chesapeake Bay. It is a commercial hub and a shipping centre for the cultivators of fruits and vegetables from eastern Maryland. Local businesses consist of seafood packaging, production of small sized boats, various plastic items as well as aerospace spares and parts.

Every year the city plays host to the national sailboat show, which attracts many tourists who sail on the Chesapeake.

The first settlers of the city were Puritans who had fled Virginia in the year 1649. It saw the battle of the Severn River in the year 1655, which erupted due to the hostile nature of the relationship amongst the Puritans and the Roman Catholic governors.

In the year of 1783-1784, this city served as a temporary capital of the United States of America when a Congress meeting was held there.
