I have a 1989 Ford E250, with the 4.9 Liter engine. I smell gas when it's running. I had someone replace the fuel injectors (they said some of them were leaking). It still smells of gas, and now the Check Engine light stays on. Where do you think the gas is leaking?

There are a number of things you can do. First I would take a look underneath the truck. Is anything wet looking? If so touch it and smell to see if it's gas or oil. If you don't see anything you can put newspaper or cardboard under the car to see if anything is dripping and where from. It may be a leaking fuel line if the car is rotted at all. (doubtful but it happens) Check the connections that the shop put in. Sometimes they do not tighten them enough. If all of this gives you nothing I would say it may be residual smell from the job. You can wash the engine compartment using a kitchen oven cleaner. Don't get it on the wires as it may eat through. Spray down the engine with a hose and check again. Hope this helps.
