My Love Bird Has No Mate But She Keeps Lying Eggs, what Can I Do About Stopping Her From Lying Anymore Eggs, and What Do I Do With The Eggs,do I Get Rid Of Them,or Just Leave Them
Well female love birds can lay eggs without a mate.first of all do not take eggs they lay before or else they will keep laying more eggs to replace the old one's.you can replace the real eggs with plastic one's of same size , the bird might keep sitting on the plastic egg and do not lay more eggs.to discourage it from laying eggs try cutting down on her daylight hour's and cover its cage a bit earlier than before to keep her in darkness.change her cage around, move toys, perches etc try to keep her busy this will also help.
I remember us once having a bird that did this all the time and she was still in good health and only did due to been old but if your still worried take her to vets or phone them with the question, we used to just dispose of these empty eggs as well
You can see if you can find some thing around the same size to put in her nest to make her think she has eggs to set on. I know they do this for chickens with wooden eggs. Though my other suggestion would be to remove her nest, lots of times this will stop them, though some still will lay them on the bottom of the cage. Also this way they are not spending all their time on the nest. Either one is worth a try. Good luck.
