How Do You Make Real Nougat?

At your home you can prepare real nougat. Below is how.

Ingredients:

1 cup light corn syrup
½ cup Golden syrup
½ cup fresh honey
2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
2 large egg whites
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Red or green food coloring (optional)
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup toasted coarsely chopped almonds
1 cup pistachio nuts, shelled and skinned
1/4 cup chopped candied cherries
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method

Put a saucepan in oven and syrup, honey, sugar and water into it and cook it in 260°F temperature. Now beat the egg whites very nicely and pour the mixture slowly into them and stir continuously with the spoon and let the form changes to waxy. After that, add butter, almond extracts, chopped almonds, pistachio nuts, cherries and the vanilla extract. Mix well. Pour the mixture into small pan lined with waxed paper. Let it cool down. After that, cut them into squares or slices as you like best.
