Chest pain may be caused by a number of factors, including heartburn, Pleurisy, Costochondritis, sore muscles and various lung conditions. It is, of course, impossible to provide you with a precise diagnosis over the internet and as such, you should visit your doctor if this pain is persistent. At your age, however, chest pain is not usually an indication of heart problems, or an angina attack.

If you are active in sports, sore muscles may very well be the cause of your chest pain. Another common cause may be inflammation around your ribcage. When the membranes become inflamed, this condition is called Pleurisy. In both cases, you would feel the pain most acutely when you inhale or exhale. If you visit your doctor, he/she may recommend x-rays and possibly even an electrocardiogram, especially if there is any possibility that this pain is related to your heart. If there is a history of heart problems in your immediate family, you will want to remain vigilant and do inform your doctor about this as well.
