In HIV patient immune system is week, so chances of infections are high. The shingles is also a viral disease caused by Herpes zoster. Normally it take 3 weeks to be cured. In HIV patient it might take some longer time. The nerve damage in HIV patients is not due to HIV but it is due to HIV treating drugs like dideoxynucleosides: Didanosine, zalcitabine and stavudine.
