Who Were The Founder Members Of OMD?

Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark or OMD is a popular music band hailing from the Wirral Peninsula, UK and plays in the Synth pop genre. The band was formed in 1979 and the founding members were Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys.

Andy McCluskey was the lead vocals and chief song writer while Paul Humphreys was the lead keyboardist, composer and occasional vocalist. The two released several albums in the early eighties which became quite popular; Organization was their first successful album which earned the band a good placement on the UK charts. Their other successful albums were Architecture and Morality released in 1981 which was placed number 3 in the UK charts and Dazzle Ships released in 1983 reached the number 5 spot.

The band split in 1989 when Paul Humphrey decided to redirect his energies elsewhere though McCluskey continued to perform under the name with a different line up. At present the two have again come together and have plans to release a new album in 2007.
