Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The group's name Roxy Music partly was a pun on the word 'rock' and partly an homage to titles of old dance halls and cinemas. It was Bryan Ferry who came up with this idea however, altered the name after learning of the existence of an American band with the same name. A distinctive feature of the band was their mix of contemporary and nostalgic themes.

The early British punk music was strongly influenced by Roxy Music. Their work included albums like Roxy Music, 'For your Pleasure', 'Stranded', 'Country Life', 'and Siren, Manifesto ', 'Flesh and Blood and Avalon'. Founded in 1970's, the band continued with their work till 1983 after which they temporarily broke up. They reunited in 2001 for a concert tour and have announced of coming up with an album in 2005-2006.
