Guisborough is a market town located inside the municipality of Redcar and Cleveland and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. The local parish of Guisborough has a total population of 18,108 and comprises of remote villages like Upleatham, Dunsdale and Newton under Roseberry and also Guisborough.
It has been mentioned in the Domesday Book. Other ancient sites located in this region are Saint Nicholas Anglican Church; this church has been constructed primarily from stone taken from the priory. The ancient home of Lord Gisborough which is also based in this area is now days used as a hotel and a venue for marriages.
The town prospered a lot during the Industrial revolution because of its closeness with the ironstone mines of the North Yorkshire Moors. Guisborough is served by the Cleveland police.
