Really it's not that hard to learn.I mostly play by ear,I guess that's why it's so easy to play from a book for me.I was never taught how to play,I taught myself.Just trust me it's not very hard.

NO!! Whatever you do... DON'T GIVE UP!!!! It may not be essential but learning to play an instrument is very helpful. Don't worry you will get better with time, I have been taking piano lessons since I was 3 or 4 years old, and it comes with lots of hard work and practice. You have to want it and the results are very nice. You are probably doing the right things especially if you sit down at the piano every day. And yes, learning to play piano well is very difficult at first, it gets easier and easier as you learn the patterns and techniques of the music. Don't worry, you are doing GREAT!!!!

Your teacher may have some natural abilities, but that doesn't mean you cannot excel at or enjoy piano, as well.  If you enjoy playing, keep at it.  Some people with low pitch memory learning channels (one learning channel among many) excel at piano-- Jim Brickman is one such example.  Be encouraged and play for your enjoyment.  Enjoy your music and do it for pleasure!
