How Do I Make My Own Website?

First you need a host.  This is a server on which to place your website.  Hosts vary from free, which usually require that you let them put advertisements on your site, to hundreds of dollars for dedicated servers that are yours to do with what you will.  I use ipower.com, and have 2000 gigabytes storage (way more than most websites could ever use) unlimited bandwidth (how much you have controls how many times your site can get downloaded in a month.  If your site is 1 meg, then it can get downloaded 1000 times/month if you have 1 gig bandwidth) and unlimited email accounts along with three free domain names (www . Yourname. Com), and costs me around 100 bucks a year.  Be careful to find a reputable host.  I purchased a plan from one company, paid in advance, then they went out of business 2 months later.  Since they were in Canada there was not much I could do besides complain.

Then you need an HTML editor to design your website with.  There are tons of good freeware ones out there, and I use Arachnophilia which I got from Nonags (my very favorite freeware site) at www.nonags.com .  But if this is your first website, I would suggest you find an html editor that is wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) which makes design much easier for newbies until ya get the hang of using html code.

There are gobs of websites which have free site templates, backgrounds, graphics, and java scripts (which make websites do all sorts of cool stuff) that you can download for free.  Rather than even begin to try to list them here, I would suggest you use google and search "free website backgrounds" or graphics, or javascript, or whatever you are needing.  I never had any problem finding way more stuff than I could ever use.  This site has good tutorial you can download and read with adobe.  http://www.2createawebsite.com/

To host a site you need 3 things.

      1. Space

      2. Domain name

      3. Some knowledge on code

All the above can be purchased. But if you have some idea about the code you can do it on your own. Yahoo provide space and domain name.

After you have your domain name (where you are going to put your site), these links can help you decorate it:  www.wallpapers.com & www.pyzam.com  Good luck & have fun!!!  :)
