You're talking about some old stuff here, lol. The 8" floppy was created in 1969 by IBM. The 51/4" floppy was created in 1976, and the 31/2" floppy was created in 1982. 8" floppy had up to 6.2MB of space on them, 51/4" floppy had up to 1.2MB of space on them, and there are some 31/2" floppies out there that can reach up to 150-200MB. I think it's interesting because now we have bluray discs that can hold up to a Terabyte (1024GB) in the works.
