2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

    The boxer dogs were actually originated from Germany for about 100 years back. Let's get back to the history of BOXERS.

    The beginning:
    People are of the opinion that the ancestors of boxers are  the Bra banter Bullenbeisser which belong to Belgium. Bra banter Bullenbeisser were said to be strong and agile, similar to boxers. They were used by high class Germans to assist them for hunting the wild boars.
    With the passage of time the Bra banter Bullenbeisser worked with cattle dealers and in 1800s they were said to be working dogs. And while they were not at work they were considered as the best pet at home. In 1830 a pure breed of English Bull dog was crossed with the Bra banter Bullenbeisser and hence the boxers were evolved.

    The German Boxer Club:
    The boxer breed in real started to flourished in 1860's with the formation of German boxer club. Although the dog has an English name because of its habit of standing on hind limbs looks like it is ready to fight with the front paws.

    At last making a Splash in US;

    It was introduced in the United States at the turn of the century. The first boxer championship organized by AKC (American kernel club) in 1915.  In 1949 the Boxers actually started to make the headlines of the U.S. news.
