How Should Parents Behave With Their Children?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Parents need to Apply the Golden Rule with their Children, Love them. Be kind and respectful to them. You need to be the Authority, so be firm and makes sure they know what is expected of them. If you make a rule or command them to do something, back it up at the first sign of rebellion. Time outs for mistakes on their parts. I never spanked my son, but he was very wary and obedient. When I said stop some behaviour or go to your room, if he did not do as requested, I moved quick like a snake strikes and would carry him to his room so fast it scared him. He also knew that lying would get him in the worse trouble, and that it was safe to discuss a possible mistake with me. Most disobedience or wrong behavior was used as a lesson for learning, with consequences. Firmness is the watchword. Be creative with discipline, making the punishment fit the crime. Allow no open rebellion whatsoever!
