The Episcopal church is part of the global Anglican Community. It is "via media" - i.e. Halfway between Catholicism and Protestantism. There are groups in the Anglican Communion who are extremely "low church" anti-Catholic, and those who are Anglo-Catholic, who are "high-church" and those in between.
