Who Was Merlin The Magician In Ancient Legend?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In legend, Merlin was an enchanter or magician who helped King Arthur. He is supposed to have spirited away Arthur, the baby son of King Uther Pendragon, from Tintagel Castle soon after he was born. After hiding him away for years, he kept him in safety until he could grow into a man.

After the death of King Uther, young Arthur was revealed as his heir and the true High King of Britain. To prove this, legend has it that he removed a magic sword that was embedded in a stone and which noone else could remove.

Arthur became King and created the Round Table with the help of Merlin, who was his advisor all the way through his reign. One of the most famous of King Arthur's knights was Lancelot. Arthur was supposed to have built a secret city – Camelot and to have searched for the Holy Grail.
