    The towns in Greater Manchester are as follows:

    Altrincham which lies to the south of Manchester, in 1974 was made a part of Trafford Metropolitan Borough, Ashton-under-Lyne has developed into a market town over the centuries and railways and canals were a turning point in its history, Audenshaw, Bolton , Broadbottom, Bury, Cadishead, Droylsden, Dukinfield whose bearings are based on the ones of the Duckinfield family, Firgrove, Greenmount, Heywood, Hollingworth, Hyde, Irlam, Leigh, Little Hulton, Manchester, Milnrow, Mossley, Oldham, Prestwich, Ramsbottom, Rochdale, Sale, Salford, Stalybridge, Sctockport, Tottington, Walmersley, Wigan and Worsley.

    Greater Manchester was born in the 1970's and is a group of 8 boroughs and 2 cities which forms the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester. Tameside and Trafford have recently been created while Bury, Oldham and Rochdale which are former County Boroughs have lost their independence (administrative) to the new Metropolitan County. It is a dynamic city with lot of attractions.
