Protocols are sets of rules needed to exchange information on Computer Networks. For example:If three friends are exchanging basketballs between themselves as part of a game, if they follow a set rule then each passes the ball to the one on the right then they will continue to do so till they tire. However if they do not have this decided then they'll throw the ball to a random person and at some time they'll throw it to the same person and they'll fail. To ensure a smooth flow of data through the network, we use protocols.
