My Mother In Law Always Talked About A Snake In Alabama That Had A Razor Sharp Tail. What Kind Of Snake Is It?
This snake is supposed to be in the Alabama State area. My mother-in-law told me stories about it, and said that it could cut like a razor blade from the tail. What kind of snake is it?

She was probably speaking of the "coach whip snake"; a long slender black snake. As a boy in Ala., I heard many stories about these snakes. According to some, they could stand on their heads and crack their bodies like whips. If you were too close, you would be cut by their slashing tails.
I spent many hours in the Ala. Woods; I never had a snake attempt to stand on it's head and whip me.
