What Is Feta Cheese?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Feta or feta cheese is basically a type of curd cheese prepared in brine. It is conventionally made solely from milk of goats or sheep. However, in some regions feta is also made from cow's milk, although this is not regarded as true Feta, simply less expensive substitutes.

Feta is made by salting and curing in a brine solution of either water or whey, for many months. Feta dries up at a rapid pace when it is extracted from the solution. The colour of feta is white and it is generally shaped into square cubes or cakes. The consistency of feta can vary form being soft to semi hard, possessing a tangy flavour with a hint of salt which can vary form mild to sharp.
