When Was Yeovil Town Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yeovil Town Football Club was founded in 1890 although at this time, they were simply called Yeovil FC. In 1895 they became Yeovil Casuals until 1907 when they became Yeovil Town. However in 1915, the team joined forces with Petters United to form Yeovil and Petters United. This name existed for 31 years but finally in 1946 the club reverted to the former name of Yeovil Town.

The club has spent most of it's years outside of the official Football League, although they have been champions on a multitude of occasions in the Western and Southern Leagues.
Yeovil Town were promoted to Division Three of the Football League for the 2003 season and managed to finish in a credible 8th place. The following season saw Yeovil crowned champions of League Two (former Division Three) and so they are currently residing in the League One division. They finished in 15th place during the 2005/06 season.
