What Is The Home Of Lancashire County Cricket Club?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester, has been the home of Lancashire CCC since 1864 and was built eight years beforehand to found a home for Manchester Cricket Club. It has also been an international cricket venue since 1884.

The stadium is just a few miles up the road from the Old Trafford football ground, the home of Manchester United. The two ends of the ground are called the Stretford End and the Brian Stathem End. For Test matches, temporary stands are erected and the capacity is increased from 15,000 to 21,000. It is officially recognised as the wettest test cricket ground in the world, with more days interrupted or abandoned due to rain than anywhere else. It is a witness to traditional Manchester weather. Lancashire play most of their home county cricket matches at this venue. Their second ground is at Blackpool which hosts a few games a season.
