Both are equally energetic breeds. As they are both working breeds, they will need two walks every day, as well as plenty of training to make sure they are well behaved as adults. Large yards with six foot high fences are ideal, however both breeds can be kept in an apartment successfully. If not exercised enough, the bored dog will take to chewing up your furniture and getting into trouble.

Rottweilers will gain weight if not exercised properly, so it is extremely important that they are worked for 10-20 minutes twice a day. German Shepherd mixes will show the same traits, so be prepared to spend a lot of time with your dog.
