It can depend on the type of owl whether it adapts to a new environment or not.

An example is Barred owls, they do not adapt well to a changed environment because their nests and food require certain things that they need.

An example of an owl that can adapt to other environments is the Screech owl. They can use woodpecker holes as their nest and adapt to it as necessary.

In terms of the environment they are in when out and about, their unusual face masks, large head and eyes positioned on the front of their head help them to adapt to that. They have large hooked bills and long toes with sharp curved nails that they use to catch prey.

You can find more information on owls and how their physical attributes help them to adapt to their environment here.
