Do You Need A Big Garden To Grow Food?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You do not need a big garden to grow food crops. Herbs can be grown in window boxes and hanging baskets and are a valuable source of flavour and vitamins. Salad crops such as lettuce, rocket and peppery leaved mizuna can be grown in pots too. Even potatoes can be grown in big pots. A stack of old car tyres provides a great deep container for root vegetables. Container grown vegetables need a lot of feeding and watering so if you can find any space in the garden try it for a less arduous experience. Raised beds created by bolting planks of wood together are a good idea for vegetable beds and always remember that veg thrive in the sunnier parts of your garden. Mix spreading vegetables such as courgettes and squash with climbers such as bean to maximise the productivity of your space and rotate crops to help reduce disease.
