Is It Legal For A Landloard To Charge Late Fees For Late Fees Due On Rent That Is Paid?
My landloard charges me late fees when my rent is late I undersatand that but if I pay my rent anddon't have enough to to pay the late fees he charges me 10.00 a day till the late fees are paid is this legal? And any rent that is paid after that he uses for the late fees that are left owing. For example I paid my Oct. Rent he took 300.00 of that to pay late fees so that put me behind on Oct rent is this leagal?

The answer depends on the state laws in your state. Go online to your state law and google to find the laws that relate to your situation. Check with an attorney...the first half hour is usually free. Ask your state Attorney general for an answer...the comsumer office there is very interested when people are being ripped off, especially by unlawful landlords. Good luck
