What Is A CT Scan?

    A CT scan refers, Computed Tomography. Originally it as known as Computed Axial Tomography, it was also known as 'body section roentgenography'. The CT scan or the CAT scan is a method of Medical Imaging that applies tomography; this is where digital geometry processing is used for the generation of images that are three dimensional. These images can be derived from a large series of two dimensional X rays.

    The CT scan produces a volume of data which can be manipulated through a certain process which is known as windowing. The CT scan is most commonly used in healthcare; however it is also used in non destructive materials testing.

    The first CT system was invented in the year 1967; it was invented by Godfrey Newbold Hounsfield in Hayes.
