Who Is Betty White?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Betty White is probably one of the most loved--even if not among the most prominent--celebrities in the United States. White was born in 1922. She began working in television in 1953, playing a main role in the show "Life With Elizabeth." She was awarded an Emmy Award for her role in this program. During the 1950s, White also hosted a talk show and played in a sitcom entitled "A Date With the Angels."

During the 1970s, White also played a key role in Mary Tyler Moore, a sitcom from 1973 to 1977, for which White earned another Emmy. Today, White is best remembered for her portrayal of the kind, innocent and totally naive Rose Nylund in "The Golden Girls" (1985-1992).

In addition to her acting career, Betty White is an avid activist for animal welfare and has taken on a number of volunteer roles in this field. In January 2007, she began working for an organization called PETMEDS.
