What Does Memorial Day Mean?

The term 'Memorial day' describes a particular day in the country of the United States and the day is celebrated as a holiday. The day usually falls on last Monday in the month of May and it is celebrated in the honour of the members from the armed forces that have lost their life in the war.
      
Formerly the day was known as Decoration Day and in the beginning the day was started to honour the soldiers who have lost their life in the American civil war. But after the World War I, its horizon has been expanded and included those also who have lost their life in the military action during war.
      
In the year 2006 the day was celebrated on the 29th of May and in the year 2007 it is slated to be celebrated on the 28th of May.
