A Pile Foundation is basically a substructure which is supported on Piles. It is a special type of foundation which enable the structure or building to be supported by layer of soil that is found at any depth below the ground surface.
There are two structural elements of a pile foundation which are Pile cap and the pile. Pile is a structural stilt that is hammered in the ground where as Pile cap is a structural base which is similar to a spread footing for providing support to the structural column.
