I Would Like To Rent Out My Flat Whilst I Go Travelling, But Don't Want Any Troublemaker Tenants! What Steps Should I Take To Find Some Decent Ones?`

Good thinking, the last thing you'll want whilst you're enjoying your travels is to be worrying about your home. Firstly, you need to advertise your flat to get some interested tenants. Once you've got some potential takers, get them screened by a specialist company. It's advisable to read about this process before you start seeing tenants, as they will be able to tell you the right process to follow. They will check the tenant's credit history, criminal records and any other notable details - all of which you are far safer knowing about if you are going to let them live in your home.

I would advise you to use a qualified renting agency.  They will charge you in the region of 10% the total rental.  The agency sources tenants and checks their credit history and ability to pay the rent, they also arrange for all the deposit and check that your property is fully compliant legally.  As you will be away they will be on hand 24 hours a day to deal with any issues that may arise such as a broken boiler etc.

Use any housing agency if you want a peaceful break otherwise you will have to deal with problems from afar which will ruin your trip.  It's well worth paying the fees.
