    Leaves are of different shapes and the arrangement of leaves is a popular method of tree identification. Alternate arrangement of leaves means that they are arranged on opposite sides but not directly from each other. They are staggered on the two sides of the twig or branch having the leaves. Leaf identification is also one of the easiest methods of tree identification. Most of the trees have alternate arrangement of leaves.

    Oaks, peepul, and other evergreen trees are more likely to have leaves with alternate arrangement. The other types of tree arrangements are simple arrangements and opposites arrangements. The leaves arrangement is also decided according to their original habitat. There trees of certain regions are more likely to have same type of leaf arrangement.
