Pinpointing the top attractions of LA is a bit like eating jelly outdoors in a hurricane; fun but difficult to accomplish. A typical itinerary, though, will almost certainly be topped by the following:
El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the birthplace of Los Angeles that now stands a few blocks to the east of the Civic Center.
Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, missing this would be like going to Paris and ignoring the Eiffel Tower. A monument to the movies where you can literally follow in the footsteps of the stars.
La Brea Tar Pits by accident of prehistory are handily located in the center of LA. Over four million fossils have been retrieved from what was a death zone for LA’s Pleistocene Era population of mammoths, giant sloths and sabre-toothed tigers. Viewing stations enable visitors to watch the fossils being recovered, cleaned and catalogued.
