The Capensibufo toad is known in common parlance as the Cape Mountain Toad. It belongs to the Cape of Good Hope region, which is located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is now restricted only to the mountainous regions of the Western Cape Province. Its natural habitat is the fynbos of the Western Cape. Fynbos is a region comprising vast areas of natural grassland, which covers several hectares of shrubland vegetation.
The Capensibufo toad or the Cape Mountain toad is most comfortable living in its natural habitat, namely the Fynbos, and it is for this reason that this type of toad is known as one of the varieties of Fynbos toads. An interesting characteristic of the Capensibufo toad is that it is the only South African toad that does not have a mating call at all. During the mating season, however, a large number of Capensibufo toads congregate in a depression filled with water to lay eggs. They lay their eggs in long necklace-like strings.
