'Marv' in city played by Mickey Rourke is the protagonist in several of the stories found in Sin City. According to his creator Frank miller he is a kind of modern day Conan the Barbarian. He is supposed to be like one of the Roman gladiators or medieval warriors. He is known for his immense strength and violent behaviour. At other times he can be pretty gentle and kind as is seen when he protects children, animals and women.

He is battle scarred and has very ugly features which scare most people away. He has no qualms about torture or killing people when he sees it fit. He has his own code of honour which he believes to be more important than the law. He is known to have a penchant for trench coat which he collects from most of his victims.
