Take a self defense course, pepper spray, tazer gun, mace, police whistle, personal security siren, don't' go any where alone, if you are out after dark get a escort(security guard, doorman, someone) to your car or to the bus if need be,stay out of unfamiliar areas alone....there are tons more but this should give you the idea...later :)

A swift kick to the groin will send any man crashing to the canvas.

I got blasted with the ball once when I was playing football (soccer) straight in the sweet spot, honestly I thought I was gonna pass out.

One of the best self-defense strategies is awareness. Just knowing who is around you and what is around as most predators are after the unaware as surprise of the attack is what gives them the advantage. Letting the predator know you know and are aware of their presence usually diminishes the power and boldness of the attack as the element of surprise is eliminated.

My mom took karate, taekwondo, and carried a gun... I like what the girl did on the movie Ms. Congeniality did SING... Ram elbow in stomach, stomp on foot, break nose, and put fist in private parts then run lol.

Be aware of your surroundings and who is around you stay in lighted areas if you come out of a store have your keys in your hand before you get to your car and if someone tries to grab you scream at the top of your lungs and kick and scratch if you can.

Never let an attacker take you to a second location. Fall to the ground screaming loudly and keep your attacker on the business end of your feet. Your elbow is the strongest point on your body, if an attacker is behind you, let him have it, shove your elbow into their whatever. The inner side of the foot is particularly sensitive, step on or jam down on the inner side of the attackers foot. Take a self defense class for more ideas.

There are many educational, useful self defense classes out there.  It is important to learn about quick, effective strikes, holds, pressure points and escape techniques.
