What Is A Mouth Mirror?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A mouth mirror also known as a dentist's mirror basically is a tool in dentistry usually used in the dental armamentarium. The upper section of the mirror is generally round, and the sizes which are often used are No. 4 and No 5.

Occasionally No 2 sized mirror is used when a smaller mirror is required, like when working on latter teeth with a dental dam in place. The three primary functions of a mouth mirror are, permitting indirect vision to dental health care providers, reflecting brightness onto preferred surfaces and withdrawal of soft tissue.

Indirect vision is required in particular locations of the mouth where visibility is hard or not possible. The latter surface of the front maxillary teeth is a prominent area where mouth mirror is often placed.
