How Many Sheets Of Drywall Do I Need For An 8x10 Room?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are 32 square feet in one 4 by 8 piece of drywall.
Measure height and width of each wall. If you have two walls that are 8 ft. High and 8 ft. Long, that would be 64 sq.ft. Per wall times two equals 128 sq.ft.
You have two 10ft. Walls that are 8ft. High. That would be 160 sq,ft.
Add 128 and 160 for a total of 288 square feet.
Now divide 288 by 32, ( equal to 1 piece of drywall).  That would be 9 pieces of drywall.
Be sure to screw the new drywall up horizontally, (sideways). That provides more stability and less chance of warping or wavy walls.
