Oxon is the abbreviation for the place Oxfordshire. This county is located at south-east England, and is surrounded by Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire. This region consist of five local government districts namely, Oxford, Cherwell, Vale of the White Horse (after the Uffington White Horse), West Oxfordshire and South Oxfordshire.

The major centre of inhabitants is the city of Oxford. Other considerable settlements are Bicester, Banbury, and Chipping Norton to the north of Oxford; Witney to the west; Thame and Chinnor to the east; and Abingdon, Wantage, Didcot and Henley-on-Thames to the south. Prospective population expansion in the province is hoped to be intense around Banbury, Bicester, Didcot and Witney, near the South Midlands growth area.

The highest point in this region is the 856 feet (261m) high Whitehorse Hill, in the Vale of White Horse.
