Answer Question

In arithmetic, the word 'of ' mean multiplication and the % sign means divided by hundred. Therefore, 40% of 3.16 would mean

    40/100 x 3.16 = 1.264

    35/100 x 1.69 = 0.5915

A percentage is actually a divided number. The slash between the numbers is a dividing symbol.  1/2  for example means  1 divided by 2.  The answer to that would be .5.  Or 3/4 would be 3divided by 4. And the answer to that would be .75

Convert your percentage into a decimal. For example. 40%  = 0.4
Then times this by your number
        0.4 x 3.16 = 1.264
        0.35 x 1.69 = 0.5915

          Usually multiply or divide
          3.16 divided 40=12.65

          1.69 divided 35=20.71
