The modern Indian women are still very much bound by the traditions. In fact, in Indian society, women are looked upon as the embodiment of traditions. It's an unwritten duty of Indian women to follow and keep the age old traditions intact however obsolete they are in today's world. If we look deeply into the so-called modernisation of Indian women, it has, to some extent, happened in terms of modern outfits (clothing) that a very minuscule percentage of women in the metros are allowed to wear. In their lifestyles, however, the so called modern women are still ages behind their counterparts in the developed countries. Before their marriage the Indian women are their 'parents daughter' , after marriage they are their husband's 'faithful wife' and in their old age they are their son's 'dependant mother'. This cycle of life invariably applies to most of educated/uneducated Indian women.
