One of the most famous African martial arts is Dambe. This is a form of boxing that originated in the west of Africa, most likely in the area we currently call Nigeria.
It is unique as each hand is held differently throughout the fight wit one being an assigned "sheild" and the other being an assigned "spear". The spear is sued to deliver side blows and punches while the shield is sued for defense and grapples.
It is also common for the front leg to be wrapped in chain and also used both offensives and defensively.
