How Do You Celebrate Your Independence Day?

I celebrate our Independence Day on 14th August. We raise our Flags at home, car and at almost every place where we can show it to express our joy. (Pakistan's Flag is in the picture too). We Cherish the memories, Ignore our pains. We Forget and Forgive, with promise of strengthening our bond with each other and worldwide. P.S: Don't forget to put along your country's flag's picture along with answer.

Well if you remember, we have bbq's and parades, fireworks, and do all kinds of stuff. In my town, there is always a firework display that isn't too big, but not too small either. I don't like the sound of the fireworks, so a lot of the time, I will just watch them from our house, or somewhere further away, and they are pretty that way. Lol
We have turned it into an family affair when this day comes around, and that is a nice thing to have, family. We remember all the people that got together to make our countries constitution, and helped to make our country what it is today. I am glad our forefathers did that for us. ^_^
This is the first flag that we had, it is called the Betsy Ross Flag.

Hmm...This flag has stars pattern in different order.
Was this changed after inclusion of new states?

Yes, after so many were added, there were more states to add to the flag, so really if you want to see the different ones, just go to www.wikipedia.org and type in American Flags sweetie.

I celeberate the independence day flying flags on the roofs of our houses, use candles at roof borders at night, give charity to the poor, pray for the dignity and prosperity of the country and nation. We also do self purgation, self assessment, taking stock of ourselves and decided our new personal resolutions and priorities for the activities of
        the
        coming year.

That Candle at Roof Borders part is so Umm.....(Loved it)!
And Yes, Even I agree more that we should have our resolutions accordingly on Birthday and Independence day rather than New Year(Birthday is kind of New Year).
Any chances you go out some spot?
        Really loved the pics.

Young guys were doing one wheeling with jouy at Mall, Jail and Ferozpur Roads etc. Every 14-Aug, it is joy to go to Lahore...

In England we do not have an Independence day as such.  We do celebrate Guy Fawkes day which commemorates the foiling of an assassination plot against king and Parliament hundreds of years ago.  This takes place on November 5th and we celebrate with fireworks and bonfires on which we burn effigies of Guy Fawkes, the chap who takes most of the blame for the original "gunpowder plot" in our folk memory.

Now I am in the US, we celebrate Independance day on July 4th with family and friends.  We always make sure the "Stars and Stripes" is flying from our flagpole.  Usually there is a really good civic firework display which we, and practically the whole town go to in the evening..  The very first time I ever celebrated Independance day here was in 2003, the day before Bob and I were married.  We chose that date because it happened to coincide with the family reunion that year.  He always jokes that he celebrated his Independence on one day and gave it up on the next!  He made that joke at our wedding breakfast too, of course.

We do have carnivals and fairs in both England and the USA. But they tend to be separate events on separate days. I have yet to hear of a carnival or fair being held anywhere in the US on Independence Day, though it may happen. Independence Day and Labor day (in Sept) do tend to be favourite dates for family reunions here in the US because working people have more time to travel at those times.

I spend it with family - we all get together in some form or another. Usually set off my highly illegal fireworks. And make sure I visit local Veterans Memorial monument for a moment of silence and thanks. You'd have to be a combat veteran to understand why.

I am not a veteran, but my father was and several uncles. I thank all of you for your service to our country, the united states of america. Our freedom is because of men & women that serve and die for this nation and i will keep that thought in my heart forever!
