What Is Job Seeker's Allowance?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Life can be extremely unpredictable especially when it comes to work. Companies form and fall all of the time leaving employees feeling confused and they can also be made redundant. As well as redundancies, there are other people out of work for various other situations as well. As long as people out of work are actively seeking work constantly, they are entitled to sign on and claim Jobseekers allowance. There are two types with one being income based and another being contributions based so if you are not sure what one to claim, go to your local job centre. There are certain terms and conditions that everyone needs to follow and comply to in order to claim job seekers allowance. When you see an adviser, you will have to reach an agreement and as long as you meet the agreement, you will continue to receive the benefit. You can either get the payment through a giro or directly to the bank although it is preferred by the benefits office to pay straight to the bank.
