'The Strip' or 'Las Vegas Strip' is a 4 mile stretch of the Las Vegas Boulevard South which is home to most of the casinos and enormous extravagant hotels that are world-famous.

The Strip runs from the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, which is located at the northern end of the Boulevard, to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino which is at the southern end of the Boulevard.

The first casino that was opened on The Strip, was called El Ranco Vegas and was opened in 1941.

Many more were to follow, current big names include 'the Bellagio', whose fountains were featured in the film 'Ocean's Eleven' starring George Clooney, 'Caesar's Palace', 'Paris, Las Vegas' and 'Wynn, Las Vegas' which opened in April 2005.

Each of the hotels include an enormous casino and it is commonplace to wander in and out of each casino, sampling the gaming tables and other attractions, such as fairground rides, strip shows, zoos and music concerts.
