Which Jordanian Head Of State Did Jimmy Carter Met To Try And Resolve The Arab-Israeli Conflict?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

President Jimmy Carter flew to Jordan and met the King, Hussein I bin Talal, to try and find a solution to the Arab Israeli Conflict. Of course after having expelled the PLO from Jordan in the early 1970 there was not much hope of Jordan influencing Arab Public opinion or the leaders of the Palestinians through a puppet King.

Trans Jordan did not exist till the colonial British decided to draw lines on a map and hand over some territory to the ousted rulers of Saudi Arabia. The Kings of Jordan have since then been grateful to the west. Grandson of the founder of the state of Jordan King Hussein ruled Jordan from the age of sixteen after the assassination of his grandfather and the abdication of his father. His grandfather was assassinated for having betrayed the Arabs during the First Arab Israeli War.
