Dog In Heat,What To Do?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

If you are interested in breeding of your dog then arrange a male dog for mating. Make proper arrangements to avoid spread of blood on floor, carpets and lawns etc. You can use dog diapers to avoid this. Bleeding during heat cycle of dog starts at first stage of canine heat cycle. At this stage, vulva is swollen and dog usually licks. This stage can last for maximum 10 days.

Second stage of canine heat cycle starts when bleeding ceases or reduced. Mating is possible at this stage. You should monitor the couples to ensure mating. If your dog does not get pregnant at this stage then there will be a period of 5-6 months when there will be no attraction for male dogs. If dog becomes pregnant then delivery of puppies will take place after 59-68 days.
