    HIV is detected in blood after the development of antibodies. Time taken to develop antibodies after the exposure to HIV is called window period. These antibodies are usually developed after 6-12 weeks after exposure to HIV. So, HIV can be detected after 6 weeks to 3 months after getting infections and rarely after 6 months.
