What Is The CPU?

Where it is on the computer and what it does

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The CPU is a Central Processing Unit, and the main part of a microprocessor.  It's really the brain doing most of the work, handling most of the timing and data flow.  In modern computers, other coprocessors do some of the tasks, such as a video accelerator on a video card, or a cache controller, but all under control of the main CPU.
