What Is The Capital Of Lebanon?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Beirut is the capital of the Lebanon. It is also the country's largest city and main seaport.

It is also one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the region and was once dubbed the Paris of the Middle East.

Despite being a capital city and gateway to the Middle East, there are no accurate population figures for Beirut. This is due to the fact the last population census took place in 1932! Estimates put the population at anywhere between 900,000 to 2.2 million people.

The city is a new modern one. Beirut underwent almost 20 years at the heart of the Lebanese civil war and was extensively damaged. Much of the city has been rebuilt in the intervening years and it has thrived since the cessation of internal hostilities into a busy and prosperous metropolis.
